My Story
I started Ceramics By Melanie in 2005. I’ve always been creative and studied fashion design for four years before having my children. When they were young, I wanted a career that allowed me to be present for them while still doing meaningful, creative work. Starting my own business gave me that flexibility.
Running a ceramics business has allowed me to stay creative while working in a way that fits around family life. For the past twenty years, I’ve worked closely with children in nurseries, running ceramic painting sessions that are fun, engaging, and accessible for all ages.
Over the years, I’ve become known as “The Pottery Lady.” Many nurseries book me year after year because I’m reliable, experienced, and confident working with young children. I take pride in creating a calm, enjoyable experience, and parents are always delighted with their children’s finished pieces.
